This morning I rolled into the town of Clonegal wearing a backpack. I have worn this backpack now for seven days, it has all the things needed to survive a campout or a stay in town. I have carried this backpack through fields and farms, across trails and roads, up hills and down. This morning I took the pack off and set it down, for today I completed my fifteen year obsession with the Wicklow.
I would post pictures but I rarely took my phone out to do so; in the end I am left with mostly words and memories that might one day bubble up at random points in conversation and I'll look over and say, "one time, when I was in Ireland..." Glenmalure was incredible, the road from Moyne to Strankelly inspiring. As with any adventure, expectations did not always meet reality, yet there is nothing I regret nor would I change. I'll continue to post, though doing so from a phone with any kind of intent proves long and difficult, more so than my initial thoughts on it. I'll be back soon enough ... Thoughts and highlights in more detail...

Well... we made it.
Dublin is still the same big city, but still so totally different. The flight over was silly, at best. I had a middle seat in the center row... in basic. My knees touched the seat in front of me and the gentlemen to my left and right sat like kings with their arms resting firmly on both elbow rests. I sat like a five year old who just wet himself with my hands folded neatly in my lap and my shoulder sagging because there was really no place to sit back. I think I slept, but that is still up for debate. We hiit the ground running in Dublin, snaking through crowds of tourists and trying to get some fish and chips. I looked at all the people who didn’t have fish and chips and cried a Little because I knew the moment in which I saw them would probably be the best they would feel all day. we hit some pubs hung out with some Italians and just enjoyed the town. so far I’ve been to Jamison, Guinness and in each place where there was a mass of people I got the feeling we were nothing more than cattle being herded, separated and filed in little groups, always toward the final destination. I start the Wicklow way today... This is a test run... just to see if I can post from my phone. Not nearly as easy as the days of yore when I could walk into an Internet cafe, plop down at a keyboard, and start writings.
